Slippery Slide To Third World Status

Before 6AM today, the President tweeted:
Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt - many jobs being lost!
Background: Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon owns the Washington Post.

So, as the WaPo continues to provide factual coverage, and reports the real story, and seeing that people don't believe Trump's claims (that the WaPo is fake news), he's going after the owner (who does not actually get involved in the WaPo's content).

Amazon is one of America's success stories, it employs hundreds of thousands of people, and has made $Bs in investments in this country's manufacturing and infrastructure. But, because the WaPo refused to become FoxNews, then let's use the power of government to shut them up.

Doesn't this sound like something a third rate, third world dictator would do?

Is it just me, or do you feel the tide turning against Trump. I didn't think the race issue would do him in, but I think this weekend is a turning point.

@JimboSaturn I'm wondering, what is your desired outcome scenario if the tide would turn 100% against him?
What may/should happen, in your opinion?

I have no idea. There is nothing that could happen isn't there? America will just have to ride out 3 1/2 years. @har7070

@har7070 Actually I'm from around Toronto Canada where we had a crack smoking incompetent mayor. What they did was just reduce his power and formed and unofficial government and ran the city without his input.

He was similar to Trump because he was the "anti-politician" who was going to "stop the gravy train" and reform city politics.

@JimboSaturn So, the response from the Toronto's political establishment was to make changes to the structure of the political system in response to one incompetent individual? Are the limitations of the mayor's powers permanent (i.e. they will affect the successors as well)?
What interests me here is the way established systems adapt to temporary disruptive forces.

I think they worked within the established system and no changes are made to his succesors but I could be wrong. I don't think America should change it's structure (it's a good system in my opinion). I just think any of his ideas will never pass through the legislature now. @har7070

You can't really do to much to an elected president because you would be undermining democracy. @har7070
