Slippery Slide To Third World Status

Before 6AM today, the President tweeted:
Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt - many jobs being lost!
Background: Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon owns the Washington Post.

So, as the WaPo continues to provide factual coverage, and reports the real story, and seeing that people don't believe Trump's claims (that the WaPo is fake news), he's going after the owner (who does not actually get involved in the WaPo's content).

Amazon is one of America's success stories, it employs hundreds of thousands of people, and has made $Bs in investments in this country's manufacturing and infrastructure. But, because the WaPo refused to become FoxNews, then let's use the power of government to shut them up.

Doesn't this sound like something a third rate, third world dictator would do?

Amazon is a joke, it doesn't make a real profit, has mountains of debt and the main reason it can afford to be an online retailer is because it gets massive breaks from the post office and doesn't collect sales tax on most of it's sales..
one day the business will collapse..

@SW-User No.

Amazon, for the past few quarters, started making actual profit, mostly on its AWS operation. Up to that point, it never made money. I made the mistake of shorting them, on more then occasion, going all the way back to when they went public. The funny thing, is that Trump the businessman, at one point, suggested that the deficit is not important, as we can run the country like Amazon, where the most important thing is market share.

Post office: NO. Amazon does not get breaks from the post office, but it loses money on some of the things it sells. This is why it's illegal, in France, for Amazon to ship stuff for free.

No. Amazon collects sales tax in all 45 states where sales tax is collected, as well as DC.

If you think the business will one day collapse, you have not been paying attention. Ask Alexa.

Amazon is a zero, just like tesla...
It's just a matter of time.

@SW-User Tesla perhaps, but Amazon is not only about merchandising. Some of the data I've seen, suggests that 70% of the global Internet traffic goes through Amazon's cloud. If you don't know what AWS is, look it up. Also, look up Alexa.
