Liberal run cities across the country are now suddenly taking down Confed monuments. Why not way before now?

History lovers are weeping as we sacrifice heritage to the gods of PC...let's erase all that we were so we can forget and then forgetting repeat history.

@SW-User Oh, I think there is a big difference between erasing, and no longer celebrating. Nobody wants anyone to forget the confederacy. It needs to be remembered as an abject lesson in the evil that humans are capable of doing.
Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition.
Alexander H. Stephens, the vice president of the Confederacy.

@QuixoticSoul Sherman hated blacks, but he was on the 'right'side so, I presume his statues will stay up. Who is celebrating? They lost and nobody in their right mind thinks slavery is okay.

Yes, Sherman fought to preserve the union and end slavery, and is thus a less controversial figure. That seems fairly common sense to me. I'm not sure why you put the right side in quotes - it was the right side.

And most people consider having statues of people in public to be celebration. This is why, when times change, they are often taken down - like, for example, in the post-Soviet world. Or Iraq. Some cross that vague line into true antiquity - nobody would remove a period statue of a roman emperor, for example, no matter what he's done. But it takes a loooooooong time to get there, and all the wounds need to have faded.

Less controversial that is funny!!
He hated blacks, burned Atlanta to the ground, he said slaves should read and write because it increased their value as property, said Negros were not as valuable as white men, refused to employ them in the civil war as laborers and many other things like that. Let's all celebrate Sherman!
@SW-User Lincoln was outspokenly racist also, but at least he was critical to helping people evolve. This whole thing is just people poking a hornets nest with a stick, and then acting surprised when they are stung. I really hate the over sensitivity and carebear fascism though, and I hate the implication of the removal of historical statues. Both of the 'alts' are ridiculous. Worst of all is the media that sensationalized and exploited the issue, and put the patriots in the same tank as the supremacists. Also, whether you approve or disapprove of Trump, the people saying that Trump condoned the white supremacists are out of their minds. Left and right are one thing, but complete fantasy paraded as fact is another.

@puck61 This guy said statues are celebrations so then, Sherman, by his logic should be celebrated for no other reason than he was on the 'right' side and calls that common sense? I don't get it.
@SW-User It's fabricated selective outrage. Slavery is a side effect of humanity, and there are more slaves on earth now, than there were in 1850! It was an accepted thing and condoned by the bible. Southern generals were great men on the wrong side of history. There was treachery and nobility equal to the generals of the north. It's funny how moral relativism is so carefully applied by the left only when it suits their agenda. I guess that's my biggest beef in all this. People aren't being real. Poseurs and killer clowns!

@puck61 Sad... nobody said or even thought that 'statues are celebrations' until this all happened it is like a planted idea...
...they lost, nobody is celebrating? and nobody likes slavery or the White Supremacy ...well Sherman did...that is the irony...
