Why can't Democrats understand that socialism just doesn't work?

Yeah, if you keep making people pay taxes every year then eventually they won't have any money left anymore. Excellent point.

Taxes are now just a way for the governing class to redistribute wealth. It certainly isn't being used to keep society safe nor running smoothly.

@Burnley123 Yes I "do know" thank you...his ridiculous comment on the IRA revealed that as did his ignorance about the Nazi party. What fun would it be to have called him out on it? Better to have people like you glide in and shine your brilliance by stating the obvious.

I'm a democratic socialist but not a Marxist, though I agree with a lot of Marx's critique of capitalism.

We were raised to think like that so it must be true. Compare that to the traditional American values brought here by the Puritan settlers. Those settlers never killed anybody to advance their way of life, and all of their values made society a better place to live for everyone.
