Do you live in a gated community? Do you like it?

I don't at the moment, but have lived in one previously. There are pros and cons to the gated community. One of the biggest cons for me is people monitoring my comings and goings, either the guards at the gate, or the neighbors. If I do not tell someone that I am going out of town, I find it rather disconcerting to hear that they know I was out of town, and in some cases my destination, from the neighborhood grapevine.
