I Write Poetry
"sweet as sugar,"
I used to say about you.
but now
my skin is pierced
from your
harsh, cruel words
I've become a dartboard
and your aim
has only gotten better
each insult has
only moved inward on the target,
closer to my heart.
the pain is so overwhelming
I'd rather have you
hit me dead on.
kill me.
at this point,
I'm begging you.
kill me.
I have scars,
drawn skillfully
across my arms and legs
all masterpieces
of the artist,
none other than yourself.
and I am being shredded apart
from every direction;
all because of those darts you labeled with cruelty.
I wish for the
sweet person
I fell in love with to come back.
I pray he's still there.
as I wait for your sweetness,
I'm impaled by your sharpness.
what was once sugar sweet is now terribly sour.
