I Write Poetry

Sometimes we walk through fire
Only to be burned by the flame
Pursuing that which we desire
Only to find out it's just a game

Mysterious feelings come from no where
Overrunning our bodies with endorphins
Nothing left to do but sit and stare
Sifting through what's left in ruins

Determination slowly fades out
Losing our grip on reality
Our minds soon fill with doubt
Nothing left but actuality

All hope is lost
The end is soon near
Left with the cost
Of living in fear

Once a man of delight
Now a mess of emotion
Time to turn out the light
And plunge into the ocean

I like the ideas put forth in this poem. The rhythm is off and the rhyming feels forced. Could you try, maybe something a little more free form and let it flow?

And make it more about you. More personal. I, me.....instead of we and our.
