Gold-Plated tears
A spoken word piece (poem) that I wrote recently entitled "Gold-Plated tears"
”My bravado was broken a long time ago
I used to have a façade like I didn't have any fears
Now I silently laugh at the fact that I tried to hide the obvious
You could see it on my face, plain as day, that much is clear
I'm too numb to cry, but you could see these gold-plated tears
So jaded, gold-plated, soul drained
It's a new day, but grows hatred with a soul vacant
With a cold reality still waits for it's embrace
Old dreams lay idle, but old habits still stay awake
Turning your back on me like it's the normal attribute
Then they wonder why you cry in silence and have a sour attitude
So don't be surprised when I expose all my fears
I can't cry regular weeps but you'll see these gold-plated tears”
