@Yulianna Great taste, Yulianna. Geez they educate people properly in eastern European countries. Did you encounter these at school or just your own reading?
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Abstraction 🇺🇦🌻 thank you... i must thank my old - she was not old - Scottish Governess who started to teach me English language at age seven years. we started with one hour per day speaking only English, within one year we had whole days only English.

she was very strict but also fun. i learned to love the subtleties and ambiguities of the language.

yes, i learned much poetry with her and when i went away to school. i still read a lot of English now and love to write in it.

it is one of the main reasons i am on SW.

@Yulianna Wow, that's a beautiful insight into your shockingly brilliant grasp of English and other glimpses into your life.

I confess, despite the most ridiculous spelling system ever strapped together, it is a very good language to communicate in.

@Abstraction 🇺🇦🌻🇺🇦 thank you... i think English is the best language for poetry and for humour, for the same reasons. its ambiguity and overlapping meanings, its potential for misdirection and camouflage.

but it is also the worst language for politics and law, as nothing ever really means what it says.

😂😂

@Yulianna I love Latin American poets. They run deep with both romance and cries for justice - a beautiful stirring mix.

Podrán cortar todas las flores,
pero no podrán detener la primavera (Pablo Neruda)
"They can cut down all the flowers
But they cannot stop the coming of Spring." (Pablo Neruda)
@Yulianna you should write some more😀

@Abstraction 🇺🇦🌻🇺🇦 yes, i have read this quote somewhere. oppression does bring out powerful poetry... and prose, too.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
