I Write Poetry

A Wish
by:Rob Paquin

(inspired by my own kids - but I send it now to any younger folk that might read it, or parents that may understand it. your dreams will take work not wishes to achieve. remember life is shorter than you think)

Wishing doesn't make it so, though I really wish it would.
All the things I'd wish for you, and that all those wishes could.
But wishing works for nothing more, than making that one wish.
And when it doesn't come to pass, it's like a dinner's empty dish.
Yet still I wish the world for you, and though you'll never know,
I'll keep on wishing till the day I die, that healthy you will grow.
Yet wishing doesn't make it so, though I really wish it would.
I'd wish that all your dreams come true, If only that I could.
