I Write Poetry
[center] My Island
by: Rob Paquin
Alone upon an island
building bridges to the mainland's shore
and though I work so diligently
a fire starts to roar
It's one of my own making
as always it seems to be
just locked upon this island
yearning to be free
Freedom is not something
I think I'll ever see
For the bridges that I'm burning
build another cage for me
And though I'd have things different
and thought I built things right
my fires have undid things
and alone I fear the night
My soul it wanders trapped here
my heart is simply fraught
with many pitfalls set in front of it
and see them, it did not
