I Write Poetry

Memories

when you leave me
leave me be
but leave me something
to behold
unfolding
yielding memory
leave me your fingerprints
in unexpected places
someday
i will chance upon them
think, she was here
and rememeber
how that felt
how you felt
how your fingers felt me
stayed upon my skin
stroked
and strayed within

take only memories
but leave me some
something to hold
and when i know
the time
has come to go
i will remember
how you felt
how feeling you
would fill an hour
or two
and then we part

@Yulianna If you can steal ideas for your own purposes it shows that your creativity is stimulated by provocative sources and needs expressed continually. I have many pieces of prose here that if you can benefit from then please feel free to borrow and “steal”.
There are copyright laws but the spirit of a writer is to be pushed on by others wrotings.

@Pfuzylogic yes, just in this little string of posts, i find something that intrigues me, sits with an idea i have about memory, data, energy, the bouquet of wine, the ghost of a touch - these will brew away in some cauldron of my mind until one day i pour out a concentrated liquor, the essence of an idea, and maybe that will turn into poem - but that last bit is the hard work.

The true enemy of a writer is being forced to work uninspiring jobs to make a living. I just retired and now I can focus my efforts on my passion. The development of metaphors are our true business, thinking poetically as we engage in our life of activities and then bring the thoughts to life in our writings. That is the true business of a writer.
