I Write Poetry

He came this far, never looking back
He towed the line, never leaving slack
He found his place, his home, where he belongs
He learned all the lyrics and perfected his song

She can't watch, it hurts too deep
To see the one man she couldn't keep
He learned to fly, he learned to soar
All that she's learned is to crawl on the floor

They traveled together once, in the recent past
Their time was too short, it could never last
She couldn't leave the trail, take the unknown
He carried on, leaving her all alone
