I Write Poetry
Ashes on her eyelashes
As she walks down the street
The smoky town is a distraction
From the pounding of her feet
The rhythm against the pavement
Resonates in her mind
The sky is tainted with a contaminant
As thoughts of him pervade her eyes
The air burns with an intensity
She imagines the flames devouring the grass
Like the way their lips collided – desperately
And though they wanted to put out the fire
There was no way they could defeat that desire
I walk down the road in a haze
In my head you and I are ablaze
Masked and intoxicated we choke
Inhaling in every breath of emotion
Words too leaden and lovely to be spoke
As she walks down the street
The smoky town is a distraction
From the pounding of her feet
The rhythm against the pavement
Resonates in her mind
The sky is tainted with a contaminant
As thoughts of him pervade her eyes
The air burns with an intensity
She imagines the flames devouring the grass
Like the way their lips collided – desperately
And though they wanted to put out the fire
There was no way they could defeat that desire
I walk down the road in a haze
In my head you and I are ablaze
Masked and intoxicated we choke
Inhaling in every breath of emotion
Words too leaden and lovely to be spoke
