I Write Poetry
Blancmange Walls by Penny Noodles
We build the walls around us
To protect our injured soul.
Encompassing the hurt within
That makes us feel less whole.
These screens that we rely on,
Do more damage than they should.
If only we could stop ourselves,
And remove the brick-built hood.
To defend ourselves is natural
For most it’s instinct born.
The barriers we erect in haste,
Shield-us safe, from enemy thorn.
But by doing this we also stop,
The love from filtering in.
From friends that care so deeply,
And your worried next of kin.
So..Allow yourself to build that wall,
But much slower, as you go;
Just use blancmange to barricade,
And build it nice and low.
