I Write Poetry
it’s time again I have to say
to take down those old worn wreaths
and put them away
all the trimmings of Christmas
the lights and the bulbs
and the Santa hats too
time marches through
season after season
and for that fact alone
we have reason to look
forward not back
for a season of renewal
to come bounding our way
put those decorations in a box
shove them down the basement
somewhere
until the time again next year
to when the seasons change again
and you hear the clippety clops
as Santa hooks his reindeer to his sled
to take down those old worn wreaths
and put them away
all the trimmings of Christmas
the lights and the bulbs
and the Santa hats too
time marches through
season after season
and for that fact alone
we have reason to look
forward not back
for a season of renewal
to come bounding our way
put those decorations in a box
shove them down the basement
somewhere
until the time again next year
to when the seasons change again
and you hear the clippety clops
as Santa hooks his reindeer to his sled
