I Write Poetry

A cat once spied
A twirling fly
In bed one summer's day

It jumped and leapt
But fell and wept
Its friend had flown away

The fly, it flew
And never knew
The joy it might have had

The cat, you know
Had scared it so
But could have made it glad.

Not bad for a late night attempt, I think~

Excellent. I like impromptu writing. It makes us think fast. It was an exercise in a writing class I took about 40 years ago. We all had to write a topic on a slip of paper and toss them in a bag, then we got to dig one out and write a story or poem about that topic. We had about three quarters of an hour to do it. Then we each got to read what we had written. Creative writing. Indeed.

Ahhh, I have been a part of those kinds of parties myself. I have always been kind of afraid of "improv" kinda stuff in real life, but I feel much more comfortable with it in a setting like this where I don't really feel any pressure to think faster than I am comfy with.

It was kind of pressured, but it was done after we had all been together in the same course for several months. We were comfortable and perfection wasn't expected. It was just a way to encourage us to get creative with ideas that we hadn't thought of ourselves.

You did well with that. My cat was chasing a fly when you asked this, so that's what you got.

That's the point of it! It was a cute mental image, maybe I'll do more with it later :) thank you for the inspiration!
