I Write Poetry
Aftermath
I am deafened by the silence
Memories running through the door
I am blinded by the darkness
And the pain I can't ignore
Voices call me to the bedroom
Where no child rests in the bed
I can hear the joyful laughter
And the words they've never said
In the kitchen when I'm cooking
I will make that special treat
Then remember that she's gone now
And the sugar I can't eat
I'll sit down to watch a movie
And soon tears fill my eyes
In the movie there is laughter
And I don't know why I cry
There's no shouting in the bathroom
There's no toy loose in the hall
Never cartoons on the TV
Never crayon on the wall
When the day draws to a close
And the stars come out to play
That's the time I miss them most
Much much more than I can say
I've heard it's best to love and lose
To never love's a shame
I'm not sure I agree with that
For love is not a game.
