Hidden Prize - An Unexpected Discovery
I took your hand in mine
And asked you to be true
You said I was the one
I wanted to believe you
You asked to wear my senior ring
I pulled it from my hand.
I wanted nothing more from you
I was feeling pretty grand
I reached into your pocket
For candy held inside
The prize I found was priceless
And opened my eyes wide
For even as I loved you
And we shared a special thing
Hidden in your pocket, love
Was another fella's ring
I took your hand in mine
And asked you to be true
You said I was the one
I wanted to believe you
You asked to wear my senior ring
I pulled it from my hand.
I wanted nothing more from you
I was feeling pretty grand
I reached into your pocket
For candy held inside
The prize I found was priceless
And opened my eyes wide
For even as I loved you
And we shared a special thing
Hidden in your pocket, love
Was another fella's ring
