I Write Poetry

Lonelyness,
the nights when liqueurs both dark and light
Can't restore warmth into you,

When screams of help are choked down and can't escape your lungs.

When numbness overtakes you, in the ways the forest moss consumes its fallen trees.

When the world is upside down, and despite your tries, the tears don't fall.

Digging out from scar tissue old bird nests from years past.

Words scamper at scatter, abandoning you like the rats of a sinking ship.

When each breath feels empty.
As eternity slips away.

I muster the last of my sanity and wonder,
Is this what death feels like?

@SagePoet thank you, wasn't fully happy how I explained/expressed that part, but I came close to my mark
