Finding Me

I’m anxious to find
Another place and time
Where I can be more
Than just a kid
Who goes to school follows rules
Comes home and does the chores

Perhaps I’ll be a writer
With frantic loyal fans
They’ll follow my tweets
And Insta-grams
Download my books
And I’ll make plans

For series upon series
Of adventures and such
About strong-willed girls
Who rule the world
And love and leave
Men in their dust

I’ll be wooed by NPR

She’ll inquire
About how I’m inspired
I’ll be humorous
But not verbose

A crowning touch
To my career
Along with best sellers of course

I’ll read from my own work
With great humility
Forgetting youthful taunts
That caused me misery
