Solitude. Sitting totally alone on the high rock face of a mountain. The wind at my mercy. Nothing. I mean nothing I have ever experienced comes closer to God. The sun setting lower and shadows dance. The heat wanning away as daylight turns to dusk. A chill circulates my body and I've never felt more awake and alive. My ears pick up sounds that I've been deaf to all my life. It's music. Crickets chirping, cicadas humming, an owl hoots back in echo. Coyotes join in, and its now officially a band.
The moon appears, and she's shining so bright, you could read Hemingway. Then the stars appear, one by one, Winking at me, and joining the fun. The temp drops along with a howling wind, Again, showing me no mercy. Reluctantly, I stretch my legs and shake off the gooseflesh that has enveloped my body. Time to head home. The Solitude, Disappearing into my rear view. The song remains the same. Just because no one's there to listen, To awe and stare, Doesn't mean that the music's over, Doesn't mean the beauty wasn't real- Or the Solitude Ever there.
@SnailTeeth I included these two songs by Hootie, because Darius Rucker singing country, just leaves me flat. When he's with Hootie, there's so much more Soul to his music. 🤗
