I Want People to Share Their Poetry

THE GREEN SWING

LAUGHTER OF URCHINS ECHOES MY SOUL.
THE WEB OF TIME SHADOWS MY THOUGHTS.
DAYS OF INNOCENT LAUGHTER AND GRUBBY HANDS
ANCIENT FRIENDS BURNED INTO MY SOUL.

WE MET THERE ONCE DID YOU AND I
THOUGH HOW I CAN’T RECALL.
RUNNING AND JUMPING TO IMPRESS YOU
CAREFREE DAYS UNDER THE BURNING SKY.

I CAME BACK ONCE TO PAY MY TOLL
THE PLACE SEEMED QUITE SO SMALL.
THE BREEZE SEEMED STILL SO RICH AND PURE
NEATH THE TREE THAT STIRRED MY SOUL.

THE SUN IS LOW AND SEEMS ON FIRE
I AM TIRED AND NEED TO REST.
THIS PLACE IS ONCE AGAIN MY HOME,
AS THEY PLACE ME ON THE PYRE.

A few years ago I went back to my hometown and specifically to the place I grew up. It was an emotional experience as I was flooded with memories..... Its about how ultimately.....like it our not.....we are shaped and influenced by those years and the place where we grow up....
🤔
Last night, I got to speak with someone whom I respect much and is from the place I grew up! We spoke after about 7 years and I can all the more feel the ebbs n flows you were feeling while composing this one!

Good that I asked you so!
