Letting go

No crown of glory outlives the grave,
nor love, nor hate, can cross the horizon.
Gold melts, kingdoms fade,
homes return to dust the earth reclaims.

Saints who shine, sinners who sink...
only forgotten tales beneath the soil.
Friendship, partnership, all dissolve,
for in the end, even you are not your own company.

Raise a tower to the sky,
or dwell in a crumbling hole...
the final dwelling is the same:
a bed of dust.

We fight to be remembered,
we struggle to leave a mark,
yet memory itches and fades like smoke.
In letting go is freedom found—
the lasting tune
of a soul unbound.
