I Like To Write Poetry
Unlucky Day
My buzzing alarm awakens me at an unreasonably early hour,
It was too early to head for school so I went to take a shower
The stream of unchanging freezing water races down my body,
The soothing, hot water must have been hogged by somebody.
The pancake mix is done and my cereal is by the handful,
All I’m left with is a piece of toast with jelly in a spoonful.
I rode my bike to school and the sky opened up,
More cold water pouring on me without a cover-up
Puddles followed me down the hall, causing kids to slip,
I sat in my desk as my hair started to drip.
I was told to wear clothes from the lost and found,
Finding only an oversize hoodie with a picture of a basset hound.
I went to turn in my homework only for me to realize,
A giant hole in my backpack which more than ever implies.
Friday was pizza day and the scent was so delicious,
The pizza was no more, just mystery meat said to be nutritious.
Went out for recess feeling cold, hungry, and wet,
A black cat walked past leaving me in a cold sweat.
By the time my last class came and feeling very lapsed,
I stared restlessly at the clock and my chair collapsed!
The laughter felt like it would be never ending,
The taunting hit me down the stairs where I was descending.
My body was on the floor pained and curled,
I picked myself up and cursed at the world.
I got on my bike and rode furiously away,
Only to remember I left my backpack in the hallway.
By the time I raced back, the doors were locked shut,
Something was twisted about this day and I didn’t know what
A notification popped up on my phone only to say,
“Good afternoon, it is the thirteenth of Friday!”
