A love lost

Years of longing, a heart laid bare,
Wishing, hoping, that you’d still care.
But the warmth that once lit your eyes,
Is gone now, replaced by ice-cold skies.

Your words, once soft, now cut like stone,
Harsh echoes of a love overthrown.
Your voice, sharp as a winter’s chill,
Tears through the heart it used to fill.

I’ve given all, I’ve done my best,
Yet you treat me like I’m less.
Your gaze no longer holds me tight,
Just a hollow stare, void of light.

In every gesture, in every tone,
You’ve made me feel so utterly alone.
Though I’ve stood by, done all I could,
You tear me down, as if I never should.

Once, I thought you saw my soul,
But now you make me feel less than whole.
I am nothing in the way you speak,
Though I’ve been strong, you make me weak.

The years I spent, the love I gave,
Now buried deep in an unmarked grave.
I wanted you, but now I see,
The love was lost long before me.

My heart is torn, broken in two,
But I’m still standing, despite you.

I love coming upon your writings for how I know personally how beautiful they can be. You do have love in your gaze, and you are more than only standing. You are the words you write, full of sadness, yet so vibrant feeling love.

@SW-User Thank you for such kind and thoughtful words. It means a lot that you connect with my writing on such a deep level. I think there’s always beauty in expressing the sadness and love we feel, even if it comes from vulnerable places.
