I write sad poetry...Remember Me Not

If you remember,
remember us both.
Together we're sisters
we grew up so close.

Remember us telling
our brother to mind?
you backhanded him
your mark left behind.

Remember us running
through rows of corn fields?
Or climbing up trees?
Time surely stood still.

Remember us loosing
our old tennis shoes?
Thank goodness Mom bought
them used and not new.

Remember us playing
outside on hot days?
or helping our Dad ,
as he would bail hay?

Remember us scoring
that point with such ease?
We both made a basket
but for the wrong team.

Remember us shopping
with Mom all the time?
Or going to movies
and standing in line?

Remember us rooming
in college 3 years?
Then you graduated
and made a career.

Remember us standing
in shivering cold
to buy concert tickets ?
We nearly both froze.

Remember us laughing
so hard we would cry?
And when our car lost
it's brakes that one time?

Remember that night when
we went to that bar?
Getting birthday champagne
we both felt like stars.

Remember Mom dying
and we were not there?
The guilt that we felt in
our hearts as we stared.

Remember us driving
three days to see Adam?
With two cats and a dog
and Dad who had held them.

Remember you loosing
both your kidneys?
I gave you one hoping
you'd never leave me.

Remember the last time
I said that I love you?
Then you passed away
I wished I had too.

If you can't remember
us both as just one,
then remember me not
at all when I'm gone.
