My world is gone (poem by Lu Kelly Davis)

My world is gone
It was never here
Let me live or die
Let me sleep or never be awake
Nothing here matters anyway

My world is gone
Don’t let it bother you
It won’t touch you
It is just me who experiences it
Never let it be any care of yours

My world is gone
What I thought I saw
Was never what it was
It is all inside my head
Just living there
Where no one can see

Don’t let me bring you down
I am not what you think I am
No light remains
No warmth, just cold
Its just me in this midland dark
Where no one cares
And no one has a heart

I walk among you
With sadness in my eyes
No one sees my fear
No one hears my cries
Just one touch
Gives me warmth
To last another year or more
Just one kiss
Gives me joy
I will not forget for evermore

My memories fade
As my world dissipates
Remember those times
When you felt something brush you by
And nothing was there
I’m just a spector now
Hauntingly close like a slight breeze
On a windless day

Don’t let me bring you down
I’m not worth that much
My memories may fade
While yours scatter in the dust
My world is gone
So I’ll borrow some of yours
So I can be close
Just a spector in your head
A remnant long forgotten
Swirling in the dust
Washed away by the rain
Gathered in the dirty muck

Don’t let me bring you down
My world is gone
I’ll only borrow yours
Long enough to remember
I was never yours
