A Poem I Wrote Today
Woke up one morning and cried
Drove three hundred miles away
To a place where I thought I’d become a bride
Against an old oak tree my head lay
God knows I tried
Ohhh
God knows I tried
Instead of dreamin about you, I dreamed of what I had done
And all the dreams that came true
Now as real as the rising sun
And all of them without you
Buy a house, my castle in the country
Touching the green grass and the clear blue sky
Plant the seed of a great plum tree
Live here until I die
Ohhh
Live here until I…die
Drove three hundred miles away
To a place where I thought I’d become a bride
Against an old oak tree my head lay
God knows I tried
Ohhh
God knows I tried
Instead of dreamin about you, I dreamed of what I had done
And all the dreams that came true
Now as real as the rising sun
And all of them without you
Buy a house, my castle in the country
Touching the green grass and the clear blue sky
Plant the seed of a great plum tree
Live here until I die
Ohhh
Live here until I…die
