Only Seven Miles From The Airport

Why do people complain

About the noise airplanes make overhead?

I don't.

I'm only seven miles from the airport.

I love to hear them pass

A mechanical white or silver bird

In the azure blue sky.

No clouds today..that's good.

Very good.

Warm, too.
I grew up with planes

passing oh so close

to the roof of my front porch.

If they went away

I would miss them oh so much

If they went away for good.

'Cause I'm only seven miles from the airport.

Endure the turbulence

Don't take a nosedive,
Like a crashing aircraft;
Headfirst fall is not a joke,
But the devil will surely laugh.

Reach the safe landing place,
Get ready to soar once again.

Let the Lord be the pilot
Who will lead you toward bliss;
Firmly fasten your seatbelt,
Never break your solemn promise.

Look at the earth below,
While you're flying in the lane;
Now you're up, later you're down,
Life is like an airplane.

@RobinPhoenix Danke, kleiner Bruder. You have such confidence in me, und it ist nicht only because I am learning German online from such gut teachers (you und Michael). I want to prove I can DO it. I am still in rudimentary kindergarten in mein studies. I can identify some sentences und use the right word in certain places, but I can't write a regular sentence oder read German as well as you can do in Englisch!

I knew a girl said her dream was to have her poetry published.
I scoffed.
She had it published.

That was embarrassing for me, but I'm proud of her.
I never had a chance to read her work, but it was young girl thoughts
I would have liked to hear her thoughts today

@Mentalicious I had that happen to me just recently. My neighbor had cancer and she moved to hospice care in Dubuque, Iowa. She died there late January or early February.

@Mentalicious It was appreciated. I grew up with the woman in question. She moved into our neighborhood in 1966 and I miss her presence in my life.
