I Like To Write Poetry
she cried last night
I let her cry never interrupting
I listened reassuring her
that it was ok, I loved her
and that I always will
if we were in person
I'd have held her in my arms
would have been with her
for however long she needed
would have kissed away her tears
but miles separated us
too many miles to drive to
so she cried as I listened
on the telephone
I stayed with her
never letting her go
reassuring her, making her
feel safe and loved
in hushed tones
in the lateness of my hour
my voice almost at a whisper
I love you, will always love you
you are mine for all time
and I am yours
I let her cry never interrupting
I listened reassuring her
that it was ok, I loved her
and that I always will
if we were in person
I'd have held her in my arms
would have been with her
for however long she needed
would have kissed away her tears
but miles separated us
too many miles to drive to
so she cried as I listened
on the telephone
I stayed with her
never letting her go
reassuring her, making her
feel safe and loved
in hushed tones
in the lateness of my hour
my voice almost at a whisper
I love you, will always love you
you are mine for all time
and I am yours
