The Script
by Rachael Eden

You are not allowed, you know, to acknowledge the truth
It is far a worse crime to point out the truth, than to admit to something wrong
For in this house of secrets only the strong are allowed to make the rules
And the weak must learn their place and above all to keep silent

We are very good at pretending in this place we call a home
Those pictures on the walls are illusion only
Those happy smiling faces not what they appear to be
Reality, you see, has no voice in this place of chaos

We grow old and yet we still cling to those illusions
The truth hidden under years of complacency
The stories narratives have been altered to make way for myths
And at the family gatherings it is the myths that we reminisce about.

Conformity is a must and to form another opinion a sin
So, we joke, we laugh at things that should fill us with shame
We ignore all that we do not wish to see or hear
And silence those who try and go against the well established script

Well this is pretty on point with what usually happens in a social setting. Ostracize, when an anomaly attacks the social coding that everyone must be in on.

This is a wee bit, maddening. To be reminded of. I'd rather watch kittens, and puppies play all day instead, lol :)

Hm, I think I'm going to save this on my phone. It hurts to keep in mind, but it plants your feet to who you are.
@symphonyssadness It IS much more comfortable and convenient to watch kittens and puppies play all day. Take care to not suppress "the work" with that, though.

Lol. It's sort of a pick-me-up for when I don't want to deal with stuff but I don't want to wallow in thoughts either as I am wont to do.
