In search of, Wanted, and Missing
The words have left me today,
I am both abandoned and alone,
Not much that i can do or say,
trying to squeeze prose from marrow in my bones,
any time i get too close they scurry,
like birds i approached too quickly,
too loud, too anxious, too needy,
the ones that stay are weak and sickly
like stars they scatter into the sky,
further and further they go,
out past beyond the firmament,
Where they end up i fear i'll never know.
With them is taken my tongue,
and so my emotional expression,
the softness of my contented insanity,
and the sharpness of my poetic confession.
And so i sit in the dark of the quiet,
wandering the empty spaces of my mind,
my reflection flickers from mortal and monster,
As i sift through the molted feathers they left behind,
I've taken to talking in the silence,
a language of pauses and breaths and gaps,
hoping something strange might come and change,
And finally bring to me, my sweet words back.
With paper cuts and paper scars,
Watch my paper wings slowly burn,
Choked in paper fears, drown in paper tears,
Knowing my words may never return,
I wither without their nourishment,
I don't cry but instead I laugh,
Its no surprise im headed for demise,
And this may be my epitaph
