Your Move (September 30)

It's the last day of the month, and while I haven't done as many of these as I would have wished, I like this prompt.

Your Move

When we first met,
You pegged me right away
As a player of games.

I knew you meant the teasing sort,
(Not that I mind mind games, mind you)
And that you were a kindred spirit.

For some couples,
Silence is golden,
Showers are solitary,
And laughter is rare.
But not for us.

When we play chess,
It's always your move.
You call me a queen,
Threaten to beat my bishop,
And ask why I never mate you.

"Double entendres make us young again,"
You told me once.
"Come again?" I replied.
We always do.

Clever and creative. Love it.

I've written only one for this month's prompts (so far). I planned to write more, but kept getting derailed by one thing or another. 😶

@Magenta Too many derailments for me as well. This was only my second. But perhaps I’ll do better on October.
