Can you write poetry?

I'm not talking about the word,
I mean something romantic or profound,
you know that the pen is a sword
with which to make your thoughts resound;
time escapes us all but we can our thoughts record,
instead of them discarded in our mind's mound
and maybe with another soul reach an accord,
a new friendship discovered and found.

Write a poem a day
To keep bad thoughts at bay
Write it down, get it all out
It's better not to scream and shout
Be open and honest
You need to promise
Find a creative way
To say what you'll say
Let the words dance onto the page
So the readers will feel the passion or rage
Tell your story with rhythm and flow
So their minds will awaken and glow
Give it some depth and contrast, add a tone and some hue
To give the reader an interesting story and a better view
