Weeping of the Willows

Trees Die
by:Rob Paqiun

I remember being young
Underneath the weeping Willow tree
Swinging on it's hanging branches
As if Tarzan, I someday would be

But now I'm so much older
And my branches hang for all to see
I feel the pull of younger things
Upon my branches; Pulling off my leaves

I guess it makes no nevermind
For I guess I'm what I was meant to be
A gnarled and sturdy figure
Bound and broken by the endless weeds.

I drove by that place once again
Not too long ago, just to see
That ancient Willow has been felled
By the passing of time.
Just Like me.
