Perfume Pollution

You were my vision when lines were blurred
as I became more frozen and less seen
in this ice-crystal fog that made me cold.
Short-sightedly, I now leave the lights on,
desperately hoping that global warming
will change my world, rise the oceans
and wash away this no man's island home
that we have so blindly built between us.

I'm not looking for the moral high ground,
drown me in ignorance and let me believe
what we have is beautiful and sustainable.
Let me warm my heart inside of a narrative
that supersedes one's faith over knowledge
and where a flood can rescue my humanity
by devastating all life's ruins as we know it,
cleansing love and its past, to see a future.

You are perfume pollution; intoxicating me
with the very essence of your sweet scent
that welcomes in the impurity that follows.
I swim to you, through chemical reactions
and saturate my lungs with your familiarity
'til our sunken-earth quakes into a tsunami,
ending all but us in this unnatural disaster
so that we will rise from our extinction.

Smartly written, and I could come up with philosophical quips or observations, or I could leave it with must love come so cruel and so cold?

@Baconrind You can then edit your typos above, not that I really care. I'm one of if the expression is known and understood, that's what matters.... So writing onto an anonymous social media site, curious, why?

@SW-User I will edit them when I decide to have my next book published. This is just a draft. I have no idea why you felt the need to mention the edits, I hope you don't think this is a dick waving competition. I was only stating that I've had a lot of inspiration from many fallen twigs, 3 books worth so far.

I was on ep 11 years ago, before a single poem was published. I hid my poetry then. It was the first public place I posted them and was shocked by the kindness I received to them. It helped me to believe in my poetry. I'm sentimental, so, recently finding this place, I just find it nice to go full circle and not forget where it began.

@Baconrind I only noticed the needed edits in responses, first. Second, I'll never question your sources of where you find your stories. I know the beauty of kindness, and if you see I only meant the parts in comments, you'd see this is not a dick waving contest. I'm sure you love, being a sentimental, it comes full circle. I don't come here to criticize people

Thank you for posting. I’m reading this at night and it’s inspiring to make me want to write more. Your books are probably awesome 👏.
