Does poetry matter?

Sehr gut! I'm proud of myself that I could actually read that, about 50 years since I stopped learning German.

Is this in German language?

Few months ago, I had decided to complete learning Deutsch to such an extent that I would post at least one poem and one prose on the site in the very language and then I stopped learning abruptly.
Now, I see this!

It matters about the same as seasoning on food.... You can survive without it but life would be a bit bland

I write a lot and I can tell you it does not matter to people here. I need to move to a non western country.

Poetry is expression, feelings.
