Home, an old one
home
I will build my home here
A house with enough rooms to fit me
Build walls out of words knit so close they keep out the wind
Windows out of meaning so loose they let the light in
I will write myself a home here
Painstakingly put brick on brick on brick
Letter on letter
Pages and pages and pages of plans
Storage enough for the life I lived
and the lives I didn't.
I will leave trails to mark my path
Letters and letters and words and words
Leading back here
To this place I'm building out of love
and hope and fear and redemption.
And when i leave
When i wander or wake suddenly lost
When the unfamiliar tricks me into feeling like home
I can follow these markings back
to find myself
right where I left me.
