Here's a poem I wrote when I was 14.
My life's compass indicates no direction
My sight gives me no vision
My mind holds no notion
I set no standards or make no stands
My mind has enough to conquer and understand
You wonder and want to know what is it like
Well, you must forget all you ever learned and ride down an avalanche with no ice nor snow
Learn things you can't explain but know
You asked, "Do you ever feel free"
Through the recesses of my mind maybe, but freedom denies me
Do you see yet?
All I ever known were restrictions and limitations
And my mind says in this mental prison
Just put yourself in my position
As the world treats and talks to you as if your not equipped with enough to understand
Hold the winds hand
And realize she's your only true friend
Don't feel sorry for me
Or try to be my friend
I just have to accept that fate willed my life to be astray
For me there isn't any right way
My sight gives me no vision
My mind holds no notion
I set no standards or make no stands
My mind has enough to conquer and understand
You wonder and want to know what is it like
Well, you must forget all you ever learned and ride down an avalanche with no ice nor snow
Learn things you can't explain but know
You asked, "Do you ever feel free"
Through the recesses of my mind maybe, but freedom denies me
Do you see yet?
All I ever known were restrictions and limitations
And my mind says in this mental prison
Just put yourself in my position
As the world treats and talks to you as if your not equipped with enough to understand
Hold the winds hand
And realize she's your only true friend
Don't feel sorry for me
Or try to be my friend
I just have to accept that fate willed my life to be astray
For me there isn't any right way
