This just came to mind today passing the house of my old neighbour who passed away a few years ago. One of life's finest ❤️
To Fred...
I walked past your house today,
A light shone at your door,
But you weren't there;
It's not your home anymore.
You live in heaven now,
Or so some people say.
They say it's where the good people go,
I really hope you found your way,
I hope you found your wife again,
Your health's once more restored,
I hope you fell in love again,
With all the things you once adored.
I thought about your face today,
It's blurry in my view,
But remembering you is easy,
So kind, so loved, so you.
Your eyes lit up with brightness,
To see me come your way,
I hope that my existence,
Helped to ease your day.
Your eyes once bright and breezy,
Tireing and heavy.
Your body once so easy,
Now so slow, so unsteady.
Your hand in my hand,
Words for me you always had,
Arms to embrace you,
My adopted grandad.
No blood we shared between us,
Just a street to share,
The best things in life are free,
A little love, a little care.
I miss you Fred my friend,
We never got to say goodbye
I'll carry you in my train of life,
Until I hope we'll meet once more,
When one day I leave the station,
And arrive at heaven's door.
Sleep easy my friend, remembering you always x
