Shard and Fire - River Mist
There I was just running
Through the endless dream
Building castles out of glass
Beside the placid stream
The forest rose around me
The mist came rolling in
And still I kept on running
Because I dared not try to swim
The ramparts kept expanding
The castle grew its spires
The placid stream became a river
Within an endless dream of fire
And the sands slipped through the hourglass
As the make believe turned over
The runner ran My biggest fan
Smelling of burned clover
And just like that the luck ran out
And a fog was borne from of the mist
The sound of a last grain of sand landing
In the distance was simply missed
Cracks began to formulate
Inside those walls of glass
And when the running finally stopped
That castle broke and crashed
The river overflowed its banks
And swept away the shards
And in the waking of a new day
The land was burnt and scarred.
