Rodney stone, Moray, Scotland

Pictish symbols on the Rodney Stone at Brodie Castle near Forres in Moray, Scotland.

It was found a few miles away from Brodie Castle and transported here - named the Rodney Stone after Admiral Rodney, who defeated a Spanish fleet the same year of 1782, when Britain was fighting for her life against a combination of France, Spain, the Netherlands, Mysore and the American colonies.
The carvings are Pictish - the people who lived in this part of Scotland in the Dark Ages- and are enigmatic. Nobody seems sure what they mean.

Obscenely awesome. Why is this tablet upright and supported? Wonderful photo woman, I hope explanations ensue.
