I Suffer From Sleep Paralysis

Last night again. I'm unable to move. Unable to breathe. I hear all kinds of different sounds. Like people, rain, thunder, the sound of a church clock, explosions and zooming.
It scares me. I try to remain calm but the fear is too big. I feel like crying afterwards honestly. I've got this regularly.

My sister suffers with that too, but she feels a presence in the room, like a man watching her. I know she used to get really scared; she's had it for a few years now and it doesn't happen as often. She tells me she tries to wiggle her toes to wake herself up, that works for her.

On a side note, sleep paralysis is actually a fascinating area of neurological study. The brain is believed to be between states of conciousness, so you are conciously awake, but your brain is still dreaming. You can't move your body but you can sense what's around you. It sounds terrifying, but perhaps by doing some research into it and understanding it better it'll feel less scary to you. And of course, scientists are trying to find a way to stop it happening.

Hope this helps! ☺

I also experienced sleep paralysis last night. I'm too used to it for it to scare me though.
Must be rough. I experienced it only as a child and adolescent and then quite rarely. Not at all since I was 19.

You think so? The sounds we're so random. It didn't rain or thunder that day. It sounded like 100 people were talking at the same time. Explosions scared me too. It all sounded so realistic. Even though it was only a minute it felt so long.

It happens usually because of bad sleeping habits. Like insomnia or sleeping too long. Or not getting enough sleep. Common but scary.
