It's like the ordeal with Joel's relative/Cub Scout Den Master all over again. People just don't know how to keep their mouths shut or mind their own business.

It’s not their business how a child is raised and what habits they have. I would never say that to someone’s parent, that was super unprofessional and I am glad your partner asked for a new tech.
Plus removing the IV that is already so hard to get into a child’s arm was a really dumb call. My son hates needles and I would be furious if they had to torture him twice with later having to put the iv back in.
It’s not a nasty habit.. it’s a coping strategy and a really good one for children. Especially if he has autism. I hope his recovery goes smoothly and he doesn’t have to deal with the issues he had before the surgery.

@soulrespite he does not have autism but he does have down syndrome. And he is always sucked his son and had a security blanket to help fill him more comfortable. And as I said in another post we have no intentions of making them stop. He has a stressful few months ahead of him with his foot healing and getting back into using his afos. So it is not something we're even thinking about unless it starts causing major damage to his teeth

Awwww! 💖💖💖 I don't think you should stop him for sucking his thumb! 😇😇😇 I have mild autism and two of my three kids have autism and I believe in autism acceptance and autism tolerance instead of masking the way we are I rather us be ourselves! 😘😘😘 Obviously there are exceptions but him sucking his thumb is not hurting anybody! 😝😝😝 I want to share with you a video from my favourite autism advocate about stimming as it may help I hope! 😇😇😇

Our daughter has autism, he does not he has down syndrome. And the only reason we ever talk about having him stop sucking his thumb is because of his teeth it is causing his front teeth to move a little bit but right now it's nothing we're worried about first we have to focus on healing his feet and then we have the summer to work on his walking with his afos again. So if we ever try to encourage him to stop sucking his thumb it will be a year or two down the road we are an absolutely no hurry.

@Cigarguy I have read your profile just now but will read it again later but a little about me, I have mild autism which makes me like a kid at heart, I LOVE Disney, cartoons, hanging upside down, gymnastics, being barefoot and I have three precious kids with two of them being autistic my son very severe and I work as a receptionist in a small hospital and I am a Sunday school teacher in a left leaning church! 😇😇😇

some people are very unhelpful in their helpfulness 😒

That tech was completely out of line, who cares if he sucks his thumb for comfort. None of his business for sure!

@RebelRaven yeah we have reported that tech not that it will do any good. But if the tech knew that they were going to draw blood there was no reason for him to take out his IV port before then it would have saved us so much time and him 30 minutes of pure terror and fear
