What did you do as a kid when you lost a tooth?

I always knew the idea of a tooth fairy wasn't a worldwide phenomenon because I was raised with two different cultural ideas.

The first was the idea of a tooth fairy. Y'know. The standard way to rinse your parents of their money💷💰

The second was something my mum did as a kid. The act of throwing your tooth up on the roof and making a wish which I think is common in several Asian countries. The idea was that a bird would come collect it and gift you with stronger teeth.

When I realised the second one was a scam I marched up to my mum and told her I was going back to the tooth fairy.

The fairy and I were tight for years until I turned 8. I still remember running down the stairs at 8 like "why is there no money under my pillow?" I already knew the tooth fairy was a lie but I wanted my shmoney, honey. If we're gonna lie in this family, we're doing it properly.

My dad broke the news and told me the tooth fairy had died. That's why he's gonna be the first one in the care home.

Anyway, then I had no choice but to go back to the roof and apologise to the birds for making them redundant.

Lol this made me laugh, especially the comment about lying. When my little niece lost her teeth I went to the extreme. Someone mentioned the 100 a tooth. I didn't go that far, but I did give her twenty 'one dollar" bills for each tooth. These were special bills that i sprayed with glitter spray. I would also put a small amount of white confetti where the tooth was. I still have her little teeth in a box at my home, but she lives with her kom now. Looking back I am certain that the cashiers thought I was a stripper when I took her to spend that money, and that those bills had all been slid down the crack of a strippers butt as a tip. :)
