Are dentures really a problem ?
My experience with dentures has been quite positive. When there were issues they could be fixed and I had far fewer issues with dentures than with my real teeth. I love the freedom they give me to wear them or leave them out.
Still when looking around on the internet most dentists have a strong bias against dentures, claiming issues like digestive problems, loss of self esteem, bone loss and inability to wear them over time, etc... Nothing I can personally relate to. Quite the opposite. My health improved by getting dentures.
I'm not saying that these problems don't exist. I can imagine that most dentists only see unhappy denture wearers, not the happy ones. So from experience they may conclude that the problems are much worse than they are in reality. The only times I had issues with my denture was because it was badly made by the denturist. In some cases making a good denture is not obvious. Some denturist do better than others.
So, what is your experience ? Are the issues with dentures as bad as dentists portray ?
