Want to be toothless

I a
72 and since I married my husband when we were both 26, I’ve had a desire to be toothless and a denture wearer as my husband was since he was 17
I’ve asked 2 dentists for a full dental clearance and both refused
I’ve recently had 3 molars removed prior to treatment for osteoporosis and have now only 11 upper teeth including only 1 molar and 13 lower
Teeth . My teeth are not in bad shape and unless I force the issue I fear I will never lose them
Any suggestions?

Thanks for responding Corsair
I will be seeing the dentist again soon
I may be forced to wait a while as I’m having treatment fir osteoporosis which prohibits serious dental work
In my mind I’m sure about being toothless
I may try for an upper clearance to begin with
I’ll keep you posted

@Corsair I discovered my husband’s toothlessness during passionate kissing whilst we were courting
His family dentist removed all his teeth when he was 17 as he did his sister
Their older sister refused to allow the dentist to do the same to her so I’m unsure how bad their teeth were?? It seems it was the MO of that dentist😳
I wasn’t deterred but actually found it a ‘turn on’
He was not self conscious about having dentures so it was just a normal part of our life together
We’ve been apart for more than 30 years but I can imagine if we were still together we would enjoy both being edentulous

@Wannabetoothless Thank you for the reply. 17 is very young to be without teeth. It's a credit to your ex-husband that he adapted so well. I have learned that having dentures is not an unpleasant experience, and it really hasn't adversely affected my life. Actually it has enhanced my pleasure, because I can remove them. I'm sure that you will find this to be true, when you are able to become edentulous.

@Corsair yes I look forward to it

Hello! I can understand your feelings, both about having your teeth removed and your frustration about dentists refusing to do it. Dentists don't like to extract healthy teeth, even though the patient wants to have it done. You still have a lot of teeth. There are others in this group who have expressed the same desire, so maybe one of them can give you some suggestions.

There may also be ways to force the issue by ruining your teeth, so that a dentist might be willing to remove them. It might be painful, but it might work for you.

Your husband can tell you about the good and bad parts of being toothless with or without dentures. I think that the sensations of empty gums are terrific. Dentures have their good and bad points, too. One of the best things about having dentures is that you can take them out when you want to.

If you would like to chat further about this, please contact me.

Yesterday was E day for my uppers with immediate denture
I couldn’t be happier
I have no pain and at this stage the denture is a perfect fit
I look forward to the sockets healing and being able to spend time with an empty mouth
💕🎉👍😬

Thank you for your response. I hope that you receive effective treatment for your osteoporosis. It's a shame that people can't control their own bodies, especially when it comes to their teeth. I'd appreciate it if you keep me posted on your condition and your goal to have your teeth extracted. I'm with you all the way. 😄

@Wannabetoothless I'll keep you in my prayers, if that's okay.

I can understand why dentists want to save the teeth of young people, like around 25, but for older people (I'm not calling you old, but just taking your word that you are a senior citizen like me) I think that some deference should be paid for our desires to have our teeth pulled. It was a battle with my dentist, but he finally agreed to pull my upper teeth and 10 lower ones and make me a full upper and a lower partial. Keep the toothless goal in mind and concentrate on getting better after your infusion.

Take care,my friend.

@Wannabetoothless I f I may ask, was the fact that your husband had dentures when you married a factor, one way or another, in your relationship? My wife wouldn't have had anything to do with me, if I had dentures when we first met. Of course, I was 27 and she was 20 at the time. When I got my dentures I was 58, and she has accepted me, although she mainly tolerates me when I have my teeth out. Like you, I had wanted to be toothless and have dentures long before that.

I assume that your husband will not be against your becoming toothless. Will it actually enhance your relationship, if you are both toothless? I think that I would have been attracted to a woman who had dentures, if she was open about it and not afraid/ashamed to show herself without her teeth.

If you don't want to answer this, I'll understand. However this site seems to invite a certain amount of openness about our feelings regarding toothlessness and dentures, so I thought that I would ask you.

Take care, and be healthy, my friend.
