It's just a phase. I went through this as a care giver for a while. He still cares, but other aspects of the mind compete with one another in a darwinian competition, and some repressed aspects are surfacing (these parts of the mind need to occasionally stretch their legs to maintain a overall healthy psyche). Humans naturally rotate in and out of various personality aspects when they are underused. Just let him be cranky and get his work or R&R in for a while, and act like a short tempered teen rebelling against being told what to do. If he has been with you for 16 years he will come around again. Let it go on a bit more and then remind him again why he loves you.
@Dignaga thank you ill try. I got to get my energy back up before i end up in the hospital for the millionth time. Hoping he just needs time. I know its hard on him too. Im trying to keep that in mind. I think its hitting me different tonight because i dont feel good. My emotions are a bit high. Truthfully it felt good to just tell anyone this.
I knew a home health aide who had a similar condition to crohn's disease (started with a P, can't recall the name) and a doctor at cleveland clinic about 4 years ago, just before covid discovered one of his patients stopped having symptoms once he stimulated electrodes hooked up to the vagus nerve in the ear, and when he stopped the symptoms came back, and so he restarted them and they went away again. It was quite the WTF moment.
He came up with a plastic printout device that targets the vagus nerve at a few different spots in the ear, it looked like the symbol for music, white in color:

So I looked around the net just now, since I can't remember the name for the intestinal disorder and just looked up IBS and found people buying electrodes off amazon.com to experiment with.
I make no promises and don't really understand the phenomena, and there are a few different points that need stimulated, but the vagus nerve does control gut reflexes. You might get a use out of it, after some trial and error (like I said, a few different points in the ear needs stimulated at once, so isn't as simple as clipping the ear at random) and the device isn't too expensive off amazon. Fairly cheap.
