I Am Allergic To Bullshit

Pope Francis just came out with "choosing not to have children is selfish" and I say, having them in certain cases can be even more selfish!

Agreed! Popes should mind their own pathetic business. Besides, the Bible says that you should not judge other people... The "selfish" remark from the Pope sounds pretty judgemental to me tough...

I think that bible adherents and the church in particular are very selective as to what they see or do not see written in it.And yes it does say" not to judge unless you also be judged",but the church and its adherents only see what they want to see and ignore the rest.

Another thing that intrigues me is... How many brilliant scientists, artists, musicians, writers, businessman, etc, through out human history never married or had any human children in their earthly lifetime, and yet, those same people left behind them a wealth of discoveries and priceless masterpieces that are still appreciated to the present twenty first century? Aren't the precious scientific discoveries and masterpieces THE TRUE LEGACY left by these amazing people? Aren't their. works "the children" of their human lives while on Earth? And as far as I know, Leonardo DaVinci never bothered getting married and have babies, but "the children" (his entire collection of human anatomy notes, flying machines, etc) that he left behind, have affected enormously our lives... Is that SELFISHNESS? Also, curiously, according to the Church's bullshit dogmas, Jesus never got married or had any children... Does that mean that Jesus was SELFISH? Some food for thought, heim?!?

Regarding Jesus, there are different schools of thoughts as to whether he married or not, some believe he was married to Marie Magdelaine, who incidently is also believed to have been one of the apostles and not the harlot the church depicts her as and he is also believed to have had children. But his celibacy serves the church agenda, they used Christ's alleged celibacy to give a legitimate reason as to why catholic priests should not marry, the true reason though is believed to be tied up with the accumulation of wealth by the church, a lot of wealthy and prominent people through the ages did enter the church, it was in fact a tradition with prominent families, the eldest son joined the army and the second son entered the church so had they had families their wealth on their death would have gone to their wives and children but because they had to remain celibate their wealth went to the coffers of the church.I wonder how many more rules of that ilk were set up by the church to benefit their agenda and how much misinformation was made to be accepted as the truth to that effect.
Yes, I entirely agree with you, some the most creative people through the ages remained celibate,I guess they could dedicate themselves to their creative ideas and achieve plenty without any other distractions. As to why the church promotes the production of children well above any other human achievements must also be rooted in its agenda of acquisition and mind control.

An interesting addition to this, in the catholic church women were still being ordained as priests and hearing confession up to the 14th century, Bishop Pelagio counselled to bring the ordination of women to an end. In the 15th century 50% of priests were married and this was accepted at the time, it would seem marriage was a priests choice. In the 16th century the council of Trent (at the time one of the catholic church's most important ecumenical councils) stated that celibacy and virginity were superior to marriage and that priests should not marry and remain celibate. The suggestion that jesus was celibate was given as the main support for this decision. However the primary motivator was that the church did not want to pay for the ongoing living expenses for the widows of dead priests. It was deemed an unnecessary expense on the church.
Also, there have been 11 popes in history who were the sons of other popes or clergy.

This is what we are made to believe.
